Marcelle and Peter got engaged 16 November 2001, on top of Mount Oberon, Wilsons Prom. national park (Melbourne, Australia). They camped in the park and began the engagement day by doing a 25 km walk before walking up to the top of the mountain at dusk. With a small bird as witness, Peter went down on his knees at sunset and proposed. The couple celebrated with a bottle of French wine.
A surprise combined engagement and "Australia farewell" BBQ party was held at 91 Madeleine Rd. on that Sunday. It took some time for guests to notice Marcelle's ring...
Engagement Trip
The week after the engagement, Peter had arranged a surprise trip for Marcelle, who didn't know where she was going even as the plane landed at Coolangatta airport! The couple spent some wonderful days at Caprice - a delightful place up in the mountains - and some days at a resort in Surfers Paradise. They went horse riding, visited Ocean World, played tennis, and simply enjoyed having some days together before they went back to Melbourne to prepare their departure from Australia.
